Samsung Galaxy S9 vs Galaxy S9 Plus design – what’s the difference?

If we talk about the design, the only real difference is the size of the phones. The Galaxy S9 has a large 5.8-inch screen, but the Galaxy S9 Plus boasts an even bigger 6.2-inch display. Which you prefer will be down to individual liking, but it’s worth saying that bigger-screened phones are becoming increasingly popular. Both the phones are having very attractive slabs of glass and metal, and have measure a very smart 8.5mm in thickness. Both S9 & S9 Plus are identical but the plus is model is just half inch bigger. The fingerprint scanner is build up in the center of the phone’s back for both devices, and the bezel (the border bit that surrounds the screen) is acutely slim. That’s a big trend for phones this year, so this isn’t a massive surprise. Both the phones are available in the following color options: Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple.

If we see the specs of both the phone, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has a minute advantage in a few areas, but the phones will generally be as powerful as each other. That’s because they both run on the same speedy Exynos chip built by Samsung, which is one of this year’s best ever processors. The details aren’t very much stirring, but you can probably expect around a 20-30% performance boost compared to last year’s Galaxy S8 model, for both phones. It’ll run like a dream, basically.

Here’s what’s different about the Galaxy S9 Plus, compared to the Galaxy S9:

  • The phone can multi-task a bit better, as its got 2GB extra RAM (or ‘memory’), running more apps gracefully at once
  • Who like bigger screens can go for this phone as its screen is 0.4 inches bigger than S9. The battery is 1/6 bigger than other Samsung Galaxy smartphones, but due to larger screen there is no huge difference to battery life.
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is just 36 grams heavier, weighing in at 189 grams. It’s got a dual-lens camera, which means you’ll get better photos overall – look for improvements in contrast, detail, and depth-of-field Both phones have the ability to create cool animated emoji.

The improved camera is probably the biggest reason to buy the Galaxy S9 Plus over its smaller sibling.

As far as features go, you can expect the same for both phones:

  • Better photos– Last year’s Galaxy S8 used to take three photos at once, then combine them for a single super-photo. The Galaxy S9 takes 12 at once, thanks to camera improvements, for an event better snap.
  • Super slow-mo– You can now shoot video at 960 frames per second. That means 0.2 seconds of recording becomes around 6 seconds of playback.
  • AR Emoji– You can create a personalized animated emoji by taking a 3D image of your face, which can then be shared with friends over Facebook Messenger or Whats App.
  • Bixby Vision– Using artificial intelligence, you can point your camera at foreign-language signs or menus and have them translated into English right before your eyes. You can also use Bixby Vision to find out food calorie information or location details just by pointing your camera at objects or buildings.
  • Tuned Audio– Audio firm AKG has tuned the Galaxy S9 phone speakers for better audio. There’s also support for Dolby Atmos sound, which gives you a great 360-surround experience. The phones support Dolby Atmos audio, for epic 360-degree surround sound.

What your purchase decision will probably ultimately come down to is price. The Galaxy S9 Plus may be the better phone, but it’ll also cost you more – whether you’re buying the handset outright, or paid over time as part of a phone contract. For a SIM-free handset, you’re looking at £739 for the Galaxy S9 and £869 for the Galaxy S9 Plus.
