Xiaomi has increased the price of its budget smartphone, Redmi 8 in India. To recall, the Redmi 8 smartphone was launched in 2019 at Rs 7,999 for the single storage variant it is available in. For the uninitiated, Xiaomi has increased the price of the handset a couple of times now.
Redmi 8 new price
After the revision, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 is selling at 9,799. The single storage variant in which the handset is available offers 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Before this price hike, the Redmi 8 was selling at Rs 9,499 and has, therefore, this time got a price hike of Rs 300.
This isn’t the first price of the handset since its launch in October 2019 and the overall price hike of the handset now stands at Rs 1,800 in 8 months.
The new price of the Redmi 8 is reflecting on both Mi.com and Flipkart India website.
Redmi 8 specifications
In terms of specs, the Redmi 8 offers a 6.22-inch HD+ display (1520×720 pixel resolution). The handset comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 with Adreno 505.
Backed by a 5000mAh battery, the Redmi 8 offers 18W fast charging support. The device is equipped with a microSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage by up to 512GB.
For imaging duties, the smartphone offers a dual-camera setup that includes a 12MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth camera. On the front, the smartphone has a single-lens camera of 8MP with an f/2.0 aperture.
Running on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 operating system, the Redmi 8 smartphone comes in three colour options of Sapphire Blue, Ruby Red and Onyx Black. In terms of connectivity, it includes 4G VoLTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Wi-Fi, infrared, 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port.
