An image of a market research report on Qualcomm and MediaTek was recently posted online through Weibo, as per a report by GizChina. It shows the product roadmap of the processors according to which the Snapdragon 875G will be launched in Q1 2021. As per the image shared, the upcoming chip will be based on Samsung’s 5nm EUV process.
There are two other Qualcomm processors lined up for next year’s release: the 735G and 435G. As per the image on Weibo, the Snapdragon 735G may see availability sometime in between Q1 2021 and Q2 2021 while the 435G is set for release in Q1 2021 itself. The Snapdragon 735G will be a 5nm EUV process chip too.
The image also hints that Qualcomm plans to release two chips during the last quarter of the year, namely Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 460.
The 875G would be an upgrade to the 875, which can be deciphered just by the nomenclature. The processor is expected to have upgrades like integrated 5G baseband.
MediaTek may launch the Dimensity 600 processor based on a 7nm process in Q3 this year, as per the leak. The image also lists Dimensity 400 is expected at around the end of 2020. The Dimensity would be based on a 6nm process.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ processor is set to power the gaming smartphones that are due for launch from July 22. The ROG Phone 3 and the Lenovo Legion gaming phone both are confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 865+ processor. Nubia has also announced that its Red Magic 5S will be powered by the Snapdragon 865+ only.
