Microsoft has been pushing hard to penetrate the mobile app ecosystem by adding several new features to its apps. The most recent one to receive the update is Microsoft Outlook. The Redmond-based tech giant has recently rolled out a bunch of new features to the Android version of the app. Among others, the most important feature is the new ‘Play My Emails’ feature that now reads out aloud all the latest unread emails received.
The Play My Emails feature is already available on the iOS version since November last year and has finally arrived on Android as well. According to the company, the new feature is a server-side change and it might take a few weeks of time to show up across all the regions.
But, the new Read My Emails feature does more than just reading all the recently received unread emails in Outlook. Users can also accept or deny an invitation to events, create new email-based calendar events using the voice command or by simply tapping on the on-screen buttons. To make the app read all the unread emails, users will have to tap on the on-screen prompt and then Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant will start reading them one-by-one along with the sender’s name and how long ago the email has arrived.
In addition to Play My Emails, Outlook has also received several other new features that include, displaying relevant emails in calendar events, Join button for meeting on Zoom, Webex and other supported services.
Recently, Microsoft has rolled out the Bing search feature to Outlook app. Tapping on any link within the app pops up three options, one of which is Bing. Tapping on Bing option brings up a web browser inside the Outlook app with Bing search loaded up.
