Internet search giant Google is rolling out a new feature to its Google Photos app that allows its users to mute videos — if they want — without reducing the volume levels to low on their smartphones, which is the case right now.
According to a report by Android Police, this feature isn’t specifically part of the new UI of the Google Photos app as some people on the old UI have also seen it and some even on the new one have not got access to it.
As per the report, while playing videos in Photos app, users will be able to see a new sound icon on the right side of the slider. Tapping on this icon will immediately mute the sound from the video and a second tap on it will bring it to the original level.
Although not a very big feature, however the option to be able to mute videos directly does eliminate a few steps.
For those unaware, Google redesigned its Photos app with a new UI, icon and features last week.
In the latest layout, Google Photos has given more prominence to photos and videos by giving its users three tabs — Photos, Search and Library.
Along with that, Google Photos also shows added Memories such as “best pics of you and your closest friends and family over the years, trips, and even just the highlights from last week.” Further, the app has relocated automatic creations — like movies, collages, animations, stylised photos and more — from the “For you” tab to Memories.
