Epic Games, the video game company behind Fortnite, has announced that Chapter 2 – Season 2 of Fortnite will be expanded for less than a month. Season 3, which was slated for release on May 1, is now pushed back to June 4, which suggests that the current season will last another month – until June 4. Epic Games did not give any clarity on why it had made that decision but said it “has a lot of material coming out for the current season”.
A short Post On the Epic Games website, the Fortnite team wrote, “We are expanding Chapter 2 – Season 2 Fortnite April 30 date beyond the original. We plan to launch Chapter 2 – Season 3 on 4 June. Earlier, the current season has a lot of material coming out. We have new gameplay, new challenges, bonus XP, and many game updates along the way to make a couple more surprises up our sleeves! “
Since Epic Games decided to extend Season 2, we suspect that the ongoing coronavirus epidemic has something to do with it.
It is possible that the workforce was unable to keep up with the May 1 timeline for the third season. Or, the delay could be simply because the company planned for new additional content in Season 2 and the players had a desire to experience it before moving on to the new season. The post on the website states that the team will keep players updated through posts on the website and social media.
While this may come as disappointing news for some players, others may find a blessing season 2 extended in disguise. Now, they will have more time to complete the challenges and enjoy new content for this current season.
Notably, Fortnite Chapter 2 – Season 1, which debuted in October 2019, was also extended guideline By the beginning of February this year. At the time, the company provided similar details for the expansion, claiming that the current season 1 had more content for players.
