CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most awaited games of this year and is slated to launch next month only. Yes, it has a large, open world of the Night City that an earlier report claimed is teeming with more than a 1,000 NPCs, it has Keanu Reeves playing as Johnny Silverhand and is expected to be a quite long journey befitting of an open world role playing game. Anyway, it is certainly going to be longer than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the feather in the cap for the Polish gaming studio. CD Projekt Red is also looking at the multiplayer aspect of the game and has got certain plans for it. As per a report by GameRant, the multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently also under development and is speculated to arrive in 2022 as a standalone game.
The report quotes Adam Kicinski, president and CEO of the company, who said in a conference call that the multiplayer is currently being considered as a “standalone product”. It would be set in the same game universe as the single player Cyberpunk 2077 and “very much related to the concept of single-player Cyberpunk.”
As per the report, an independent team is working on the multiplayer and it would be a “big production”, with several developers working on it.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches December 10 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia. The game would come to next gen PS5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles in 2021.
